Well, having said upgrades don't work very well, I was feeling lazy today
and after the backup, I couldn't face restoring all my configs and data
etc.

So, I said "update" instead of new installation. A few minor problems (had
the "real" Kaffeine installed under 9.3, but other than that it all seems
to have worked well. My main applications all started up where I left off
and a 5 minute download upgrade of Kaffeine had it working again with DVD's
etc.

The install didn't like my video set-up (dual-head), so after the inital
reboot it said it couldn't load the graphical environment, YaST proceeded
to load in text mode, checked the network config and then offered to
download the patches, a quick nVidia driver update later and I had the
graphical environment again, including working dual-head.

The upgrade process seems much better than the last time I tried. So far no
nasty suprises. I'm very impressed with the work that SuSE/Novell seem to
have put in.

Time will tell if there are any nasties lurking under the surface, but so
far very impressed. Still got the backup in case I need to do a fresh
install ;-)
