SuSE 10 and Thunderbird and Firefox -- a serious fault!

This is a cry for help, after having hounded many others for help and
come up dry.

Under SuSE 9.2, both Thunderbird and Firefox "knew of" one another and
when an appropriate hyperlink was clicked on under one of them the other
responded appropriately.

Under SuSE 10, with both Thunderbird and Firefox listed as defaults
under KDE's KMenu (Control Center > KDE Component > Component Chooser)
when I click on a link on one of them nothing whatever happens! I have
no idea how to set things up under Gnome (one of my two computers has
only KDE installed, the other has Gnome installed).

I am not alone in having this kind of problem. I don't know whether it
extends past SuSE users, but information on the Mozilla Mag web site
suggests that it does. Nevertheless, what worked under 9.2 should work
under 10!
