Your problem may have absolutely nothing to do with powersaved, acpi,
apm or any other of the sophisticated powersaving tools.
I don't know SuSE, but Slackware has a line in one of the startup
scripts that reads
# Screen blanks after 15 minutes idle time.
/bin/setterm -blank 15
/bin/setterm causes the screen to blank and go into power saving mode.
P'haps this is your problem.
Alternatly, if you run X, you may have the screenblanking options
enabled there as well. In the "ServerFlags" section, look for the
Option "BlankTime", Option "StandbyTime", Option "SuspendTime", and
Option "OffTime" settings. These control the intervals that X will use
to Blank/StandBy/Suspend/Off your monitor.
