Suse 10.0

1) My USB 2.0 pendrive goes 200 kb/second at best (whatever ntfs or fat
partition from hardrive to pendrive). In Windows, the same pendrive goes
much much much more faster. why? how can I speed it up?
I'm quite sure Suse recognizes it as USB 2.0... how can I be absolutely
sure?

2) To safeley remove pendrive I need to be loggued as root, or run
konqueror as root. How do I give permisisons to my user to safely remove
the pendrive?

Thanks.
