Win2k was probably the pinnacle of Windows, XP wasn't as good, looks like a
lego set, my default installation includes instantly switching back to
Win2k look the first time I get to see the desktop!
Windows ME was the worst, unstable, new driver model that was incompatible
with 2k or 9x - luckily 9x drivers mostly worked. Still, naming it after a
disease wasn't a good omen ;-)

Got the retail version, I'm in heaven ;-)

Yep, I need to get another paid of wheels under my legs. Sold my VFR in
England when I moved, but haven't got around to buying a new one yet - and
with all the snow here, the heated leather seats of the car do keep the
lustings after a bike to a minimum ;-) - although I borrowed/rented a few.
I recently tidied up my office and cleared out 50% of my computers - 1 back
in service as a Solitaire terminal in the kitchen while my mother visits.
Wouldn't mind playing with a dual-core SLI machine, but my existing AMD64
3500+ is more than enough for 99% of my time - in fact my Athlon 2100+ is
the workhorse and I do more work on that the AMD64 at the moment!
It was great having a couple of servers and several workstations to
experiment on, but I just couldn't cope with the noise, and the reduced
energy bill should be a pleasant suprise :-P My problem is, when I replace
a machine, I am loathe to scrap the old one, so it becomes a test machine
or back-up server or whatever. Now I have more workspace and a few spare
machines to fall back on.
