If you host a LAN party, the IPadresses can be given by you SUSE box as
well as the router. You Linux box can do it just as well. It can also
provide the IP adress for your router. You can even set up your Linux
box as a router, if you like. :-)
Having your Linux box as a DHCP server could most possibly mean that you
can do a LOT more with the configuration. The router will most likely
only give the DNS servers and its IP adress. Your Linux DHCP server is a
bit more floxible and thus can do a lot more.

iI meant both. If you have a DHCP server on your Linux box, you can also
use it to host a DNS server. That way you can also just type 'mommy' or
'kitchen' or whatever your PCs are called without adding the names. You
can also add the LAN PCs if they come by frequently.
I _think_ you can make a link between the DHCP and the DNS server, but I
am not sure.
If you have just a few PC's, doing a copy of the hosts file from the
main machine should be enough.
