That sounds like browser hijack to me ;)

You should install Firefox and the netcraft extension. That'll warn you of phishing and it'll show you the IP address in the lower right corner, also the Flag of the country the server is located in the toolbar. It'll show a security rank etc... A nice extension :) -- Vahis .
