Re: Nvidia comment

I love SuSE and I have been using it for about 5 years now. I have learned
so much from reading nearly every post to this newsgroup and I try to help
others whenever I have confidence that I have helpful input. Of course we
all know about proprietary drivers and private companies working with, or
lack thereof, the FOSS community. I am NOT putting down Nvidia here or
complaining about SuSE !!! I respect Nvidia and I think they produce high
quality products. Of course it would be preferable for them to provide
open source drivers but I am not going to hold my breath. I just wish
there product would behave nicely with my OS of choice....
Leaving the driver supply and fair-installation-ease thereof in
the hands of the card makers is like leaving the fox guard the
chicken coop. When they see fit they can downgrade or kill the
support for a not-too-old card thus forcing the user to get another
one.
Next to the Digital Ripoff Monkeys this will have to be brought down
too. Maybe FOSS is the answer, who knows, I for one am not going to
spend two days again making something I had paid big money for just
work.
My next card will be one with open drivers, let there be no doubt
about that.
