Use Yast and test any proposed changes.

I'm not sure what you mean by "the windows part of the partition."
Normally you would install Linux into its own logical drives or
partitions. Linux is able to read FAT and NTFS.

Are you talking about running Linux on a virtual machine under
windoze? If not, I'm not sure what you mean by putting the SuSE 10
Linux on the older desktop.

Dual boot means that there is only one system running on the machine
at any given time. You can network between whatever pair of systems is
running. Or are you talking about two systems running two additional
systems on virtual machines? If the latter, it would depend on the
virtual machine software that you are using.
