There are several ways to do this.
1) Just type '3' when you are booting. You need to enter it at the
bootscreen.
2) edit some stuff (as mentioned in another posting)
3) Don't reboot. Do [CTRL][ALT][F1] at the login screen and log in as
root. Type 'init 3' and configure. To exit, type 'init 5 && exit'.
In 10.0 you can run sax2 alsi inside your GUI, you just need to restart
X (log out and in)
