Suse 9.3 networking problem.

Hi!

I am a newbie to the Linux world, well, relatively anyway. After
dipping my toe in the water a few times using Linux on VMWare in
Windows XP i decided to jump in the deepend and dedicate my laptop to
Suse.

Now, being fairly used to networking i did not expect too many
problems, i have a home network of 5 computers which all run Windows
boxes joined together by a Netgear MR814 router running a DHCP server.

The problem i have is probably a common one yet i have tried a lot of
things and looked in a lot of placed but can't find any help! I
installed Suse 9.3 on my Fujitsu Amilio 8830 laptop and the
installation went as planned.

Upon first using Firefox i could not connect to anything, even the
router. After a while of playing around i can connect to the router's
web interface and connect to my webserver via the internal ipaddress.
If i try to connect via the external ip address i get the following
message:

The connection was refused when attempting to contact xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx

Despite the fact my router is acting as a DHCP server i can only
contact the internal ip's if i manually set up an ip address. If i
leave it set to DHCP server assigned i can contact anything!

I would be very grateful for any help anyone can offer! In my
desperation i downloaded "Suse 9.3 For Dummies" and that does not
explain or walkthrough anything on this subject!

My head hurts and i need to lay down for a while!
