Hi,
I'm facing a problem with my SuSE 10 installation. Using the ndiswrapper
I loaded the driver for my Netgear WG111 USB WLAN stick which after a
while works quite good.
Now, if I try downloading bigger files (about 15 to 20 MB) or browse
through the internet for a while, so while I'm generating network
traffic, suddenly the whole system freezes, and I have to do a hard
reboot by turning the computer off and on again.
At first I have to thank you for your detailed answer! I'll try to do what you suggested.
Are you sure it has crashed rather than is stuck waiting for something. Ok,> [...]
most drivers will time out, but some timeout loops have to allow quite some
time because of the type of job that they do.
I'll try waiting for some more time watching the logs in /var/logs with tail -f, and using top outputs and low priority downloads. Maybe Firefox (which I was using when the system crash... stops ;-) ) is writing some log files, or maybe is responsible for the problem. But I'm still afraid this is not a timeout. My keyboard and mouse don't react anymore, and the screen freezes, too.
Maybe I can narrow that problem down, or find a more direct way to reproduce it, than just browse the Internet.
Thanks a lot!
Best regards
Bernhard
