Es müssen zwei Einträge aktiviert ("ent-auskommentiert") werden:
/etc/cups/mime.convs => */* application/vnd.cups-raw 0
/etc/cups/mime.mime.types => application/octet-stream

Zweiteren hatte ich selber gefunden. Hinweis zum ersten gab es hier:
