curiously there is no error message....

my observations:

1) I noticed that you have the option TAO set.
Suggest you do not use it and see how it goes.

2) The error related to the highest speed (DMA) could be corrected using (s
root) "hdparm" and enable DMA.

3) If your Plextor 716A burner has a newer firmware, suggest that you
upgrade the firmware: see manufacturer web site, or possibly
<http://www.cdfreaks.com/>

4) Normally K3B uses "growisofs" and not CDRECORD, make sure you make a
system update (YAST-UPDATE).

5) You may want to review the setup optiobs in K3B.

6) You may want to run K3B as root... but first try to use it with
"growisofs".
