Re: How can I set a network card to active....

eth0 is the fixed card, wlan0 the wireless. So either or both should get
an IP adress. If that is not the case: Yast, Network Devices, Network
card (Don't know if there is something for the wireless one). There you
have one or two cards.
Edit the one you want to use. Normaly this should be DHCP. If that does
not work, enter an IP adress and routing, depending on you local network
settings. Next and next again. You SHOULD now have an IP adress. As long
as you don't get an IP adress, it won't work. Look on another machine
(ipconfig on a Win machine) what the IP and settings are there.

Once you have an IP adress, see if you can get to the IP adress of your
router (ping IP.for.the.router) Naturaly the router should be able to
answer this, so try it (first) on a network that works.

Today i decided to reinstall SuSe so i can tackle your suggestions
from a clean install. I was messing with it yesterday so i wanted to
make sure my tamperings had no caused SuSe to not work with my card.

I followed your instructions and got up to the point where i try and
ping the router and the message i received was "Destination Host
Unreachable". If i try and log on to the router in a browser i get the
message "The connection was refused when attempting to contact
192.168.0.1".

This also happened when i ser the router to not act as a DHCP server.
The ipaddress i have in SuSe is one i manually set. The following is
the current replies when typing rcnetwork restart and further down
ifconfig. The reason eh0 does not have an ipaddress is only because
have not connected the cable. If connected that works perfectly with
no problems and is assigned an ipaddress by the router.

Thanks again for your help!
