You can add KDE to the system by installing all the KDE stuff using
[YaST] - [Software] - [Add/remove Software]. It is a good idea to use
the predefined selections.
I have a few experiences with GNOME and gdm only. Therefore I have no
idea if gdm offers to change to a different GUI at the login prompt
(KDE's display manager "kdm" does ...).
If you do not have a choice to select the GUI at the boot prompt, you
can change between KDE and GNOME by adapting two variables in [YaST] -
[System] - [Edit /etc/sysconfig files]. The variables are:
[Desktop] - [Window manager] - [DEFAULT_WM] = kde/gnome
[Desktop] - [Display manager] - [DISPLAYMANAGER] = kdm/gdm

Never give up !

The best answer: "We certainly do. A man can't drink beer all the time."
