You mean advanced work like installing non-supported versions of KDE?
The time you have lost with that could have been spend with setting up
your video display in a decent resolution.

hi!
installing a non-supported kde took about 15 minutes. i never did
anything else with it.
i can (and will) reinstall the standard suse10.0 and get rid of the
nonsupported kde :-)

still, my time has been so far used on finding drivers for gps,
video->usb drivers, dial-up bluetooth...

yes, yesterday i probably found a nvidia driver that works with my
displaydriver on PCLinuxOS...

as i said before, my standard suse10.0 works perfectly on my laptop
and fine on my tabletop except for the displaydriver which limits the
resolution to 1024x768 ...

cheers,
christine

Christine:

I run a DELL XPS M170 on SUSE 10.0. It has the 256MB Nvidia 7800 and I am
using it at 1920x1200 with no issues...

Check your SAX2 settings.. or reinstall the driver.. I suspect your
settings for your display are incorrect.

I can't rememeber the exact wordng but if you read the release notes it
states there is a problem with the new video cards that both NVidia and
SuSE are working on. I'm not sure if they have released a new driver to
correct the issue yet.

Ram

On the Dell M170, with the 7800gtx card, I installed the nvidia driver from
Yast online update with no issues.. The thing works just fine.

On the Compaq X-Gaming box with a nvidia 5950, I installed it manually by
downloading the file from nvidia directly.. then running sax2 -m 0=nvidia
and identifying the monitor.. That one is runnign at 1600x1200 with no
issues..

If there was a problem, it would seem that it has been addressed..
