Tutorials. Tutorials? What the f'heck is a tutorial?

Sorry, not picking on you. This is for everyone that will find the 'install
question' in a google search.

Over and over we get newby linux users, slam a dvd into the drive, load
their linux best guessing the install options, then sat with a brand new
operating system, if they got that far, whats the first thing they do? They
have a go at installing something, hardware or software. Then they come
into a news group approximately twenty minutes afterwards. Some shouting
and balling, some trying to avoid looking daft because they like to think
they can 'work it out for themselves'. All have one thing in common, none
of them worked through a tutorial.

Start with a linux tutorial. Start one even before you 'slam in the dvd', it
will tell you what the answers ought to be.

Then with your working system, carry on and learn what goes where, you are
often told why too.

It will take you through commands for daily tasks and on to some more
complex areas. It will also teach you how to install and run programs, not
