I should of stated that i have had suse 10.0 for 2 months now...i only
have a problem with installing downloaded programs.

Tutorials, hahahaha most of the ones that i have found were written by
some lil geek that is using a langauge that isn't of this world. Ive
tried to follow most of what i have found buy still have problems
getting the damn things to install...if yast install is available then
thats no problem.

I understand that you are aggerviated in total newbs asking qeustions
that can be found in simple search engines (ie- google), but then again
couldn't you find out all your qeustions in that same search engine?
then what is the use of forums and newsgroup? i am simply asking
someone for a step by step in "layman terms".

ps i would never "slam" a cd/dvd into my computer...the eject button
will pull the tray nice and soft ;-)

Ok, I came over sounding frustrated, but I really meant 'Use tutorials,
because they'll help you' in a nice way.

Part of the job of a well written tutorial is to teach you the language of
the subject, some do it so well that the person reading them doesn't even
realise he is learning a new language, he simply starts using it.

The tutorial first approach is sound. For example I have been in UNIX since
1979. When I load software I am using exactly the same packages as a newby,
but I rarely load a package that causes a problem. I am following the same
readme or install files as the newby is. The only difference can be that if
the software asks for something, I know where to look for what it wants.
Maybe a lib, or a location or a pre-requisit. These are things that a
tutorial would help with, how to find files, how to check what software you
already have loaded (because it might simply be in a different place than
the installation expects).
