I'm not familiar with tbird at all, but it may be attempting to cancel a
post on Usenet. AFAIK, starting years ago it was the source of all kinds
of mischief. So today, most news admins/servers don't honor post cancels
as readily as some did before AOL/WebTV/M$ "discovered" Usenet.

As mentioned in this thread, it may be tbird will mark a post as read so
you never see it, if this tbird delete option isn't working for you.

BTW, I agree completely trolls are parasites, expecially in tech groups.
