serious font problem

Second, someone help me please

I followed the instructions on
http://en.opensuse.org/Optimal_Use_of_Fonts_on_SuSE, and indeed the fonts
look perfect on the system. i have one problem, when I browse my folder,
what I see is garbage fonts, almost Russian or. It happens only in my
profile. I try as root, everything is fine, a profile for a new user works
fine to, my profile in Gnome works fine too.
Am I looking at a permission issue?
