Problem installing Suse 10.0 with new motherboard

My old motherboard went south on me, so had it replaced. the techs
knew I used Suse linux, but I'm not sure they checked carefully enough.
The new board is from intel, D945G.
When I try to boot, Grub can't find a disk to boot linux from. When I
try to rescue or reinstall Suse, it can't find a disk either.
Mandriva 2006 can find a disk, but not the (onboard) ethernet
connection. Ditto Knoppix 4.
Windows, annoying beast that it is, goes gallumphing along without a
problem. I'm tempted to just go with Windows, but the family has
become accustomed to Linux.
The disk is SATA, with a windows NTFS partition, two reiserfs
partitions for home and root and a swap partition.
I've never had a problem installing Suse before this (starting with
7.?). Do I need to return the motherboard? Or is there a solution out
there?
Thanks,
Russell.
