I installed Open SUSE Slick on my computer yesterday. I<92>ve used Mandrake 6.0 along time ago and I was really surprise to see how the installation and configuration was simpler.
Mandrake 6.0 was... mid 1999 - still basically a copy of Red Hat 5.1 with
more KDE. Yes, you would expect things to improve in six years.
First problem, In windows I use a 1024*728 display
That's unusual - the normal would be 1024 x 768. But I am not the display
or X expert.
Second problem, and it<92>s the important one, the modem doesn<92>t work. Yeah! I<92>m still with a 56k dial-up modem.
What kind of modem? Brand, model - internal/external - what interface?
It is a smartlink 56k PCI that is suppose to be in the PCI slot 3.
I google all kind of stuff yesterday and it seems like it is a comon problem and I read about 77 differents solution to make it work, nothing worked for me!
I have the linux pilot from smartlink web site, do I need to install it? Having no confidence in myself at the shell can I find a .rpm file?
