The simplest way to upgrade FF though is to download it and then
click on it in Konqueror and then choose "Install with YaST"

It'll do the whole thing :)

Unfortunatly that dosen`t seem to work - It finds conflicts and I have
been told elsewhere that the latest "native-" version of firfox for
suse10 is the 1.08 - for some reason I have ended up with the 1.06 now
after trying to resolve conflicts (including languages for firefox.)

1) Make sure you donwloaded the correct firefox package for your
system (10.0-i386, 9.3-i386, etc - whichever one matches your
setup).

2) Uninstall the SuSE-original 1.x firefox before installing
the new 1.5 version (use YaST to do the un-install).

3) Open a shell (command line, terminal program, whatever you
want to call it). There is (or should be) an icon for 'Konsole'
on your task bar (lower left corner).
Soapbox: Knowing how to use the command line is KEY to
using unix/linux.

4) cd to the directory where you saved the downloaded rpm.
For example:

cd downloads/firefox

5) type 'su' and press enter; then enter the 'root' password
when prompted.

6) type 'rpm -i firefox-rpm-filename' and press enter.
for example:

rpm -i MozillaFirefox-1.5.0.2-0.1.i586.rpm

7) if desired, run SuSEconfig - just type SuSEconfig and
press enter.

8) type 'exit' to end the 'su' session

9) type 'exit' to exit/close the terminal window

The total time to perform steps 3 thru 9 is about a minute or so.

Trying to install the d-load in Konkueror and "Install with Yast"
produces no results.

The alternative method shown earlier in this thread is <for me-> just to
bloody complicated and assumes loads of previous knowledge of Linux/Suse
which I don`t <yet-> have.

If some kind soul would like to contact me by y-mess or msn-mess and
"walk-" me through this stuff I would be most appreciative.
