Hi folks, Suse 10.0 here :)
I've been messing aournd for I don't know how long trying to be able to
print to a Windows share printer.
Here is what I have so far
With the help of
http://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Printing_via_SM...r_Windows_Share I can do
the following:
I know that the printer is at the server "K-PAX".
********************
smbclient -L k-pax -N -U USERNAME%PASSWORD (ofcourse with my real
USERNAME and PASSWORD)
Domain=[XXXXX] OS=[Windows Server 2003 3790 Service Pack 1]
Server=[Windows Server 2003 5.2]
Sharename Type Comment
--------- ---- -------
print$ Disk Printer Drivers
XeroxWor Printer Xerox WorkCentre Pro 412 PCL 6
C$ Disk Default share
HAD Disk
[*SNIP*]
IPC$ IPC Remote IPC
RICOHAfi Printer RPCS Driver (Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003)
ADMIN$ Disk Remote Admin
RICOHAfi.2 Printer PCL 6 Driver (Windows 2000/XP/Server 2003)
EPSON Printer EPSON AL-C900 Advanced
[*SNIP*]
********************
Fine, so we have a few printers shared. Lets try to print an "empty"
document to the EPSON printer where I know I have the permission to
print.
***************
smbclient "//K-PAX/EPSON" "PASSWORD" -c "print -" -N -U "USERNAME" -W
"workgroup"
Anonymous login successful
Domain=[XXXXX] OS=[Windows Server 2003 3790 Service Pack 1]
Server=[Windows Server 2003 5.2]
Anonymous login successful
tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
***************
So, it didn'nt work. I have tried:
* Using the other printers (same result)
* Without the -W option (same result)
* With the domain name as workgroup (same result)
* Using USERNAME%PASSWORD (It seems to "hang")
I have also tried using YAST to set things up. Some translations may be
wrong, I'm using a Swedish version.
Yast - Hardware - Printers
New Printer
Print through a SMB server
- Workgroup = Workgroup
- Hostname of print server - K-PAX
- "Lookup" does nothing so I type EPSON as Remote Queue Name
- Username = USERNAME and Passwords = PASSWORD (the real USERNAME and
PASSWORD ofcourse)
- Test remote SMB access
Then I get the following message
*******************
There was a problem
Your network access is not properly configured
or the print server is unknown or unavailable.
Check the hostname of the print
server or contact your network administrator.
*****************
I have tried:
* Using another printer (same result)
* Using the domain name as Workgroup (same result)
I am using the shared directorys using samba without problems but the
printer looks like a dead end.
Any help or pointing in the right direction would be greatly
appriciated.
Kind regards
.
