Re: Will applications that run on v9.3 run on v10?

I have some technical software that will run on SuSE 9.3 Professional,

the Windows world for the past 12 years) and would like to try the latest
version, but would like to be able to run this app as well.

It might. It might not. Most likely it will, but without knowing what
the program does or needs, it is impossible to answer this. There is
only one solution and that is to try it out.

What I would sugest you do is first try 9.3 and that software. That way
you can see how the software should behave. Once you are more
comfortable, you can try the then latest version.

It much depends on the additional software, on the need for you for it
and on other things, like the amount of time and PC's you have.

If the software is a 'must have' for you business, then go with 9.3,
beuse the software is more importand then the OS. 9.3 is still accurate
and safe to use. It will be updated for at least another year. Time
enough for you to get used to Linux and then update to the then version
of what will be available.

If the software is just a gimmick that could be replaced by something
else, then wait another week or 2 or so and go for the then new 10.1 and
if it installes, fine, if not, no real loss.

One extra thing. As you are a Windows User of 12 years, you must realize
that whatever you learned about computers you will have to unlearn. It
is as if you are learning a complete new language. You know how to
speak, yet you know nothing about that new language. You will need to
learn almost from scratch.
