As an asside I wish Firefox would abandon that built-in can't-switch-me-off
pop up blocker. I can't use firefox because it automatically blocks some
types of pop ups, this can't be switched off, don't bother telling me to go
to the conf page, you can't switch this off. It blocks the three main web
sites that I use daily. That to me is bad design, it is also against the
Free(dom) of the Linux way of doing things.

How about just going to "Edit" -> "Preferences" -> "Content" and
unticking the "Block Popup Windows" option?

On my machine, that de-activates the popup blocker completely. Can't see
why it would not do the same on yours.

Alternatively, you can simply add your "three main web sites" to
"Allowed Sites" there and all their popups will then be allowed.

Firefox is all about options; unlike some other browsers I care not to
name... ;-)
