Boot problems after update - newbie

I have just installed Suse 10.0 on a SATA number one drive. On the SATA
number 2 drive I have Windows XP.
Installation was easy and I could boot into windows (using GRUB) from the
three options on the green screen
displayed just after the computer was turned on.
I then updated the system and installed more programs by internet downloads
and from the installation CD. Then I updated to a newer version of KDE
(3.5.1) which I had on a CD.
Now when I turn the computer on and try to boot to Windows the process gets
stuck. I get a black screen with the message "screenloader (hd1,0) +1"
I have tried using Yast to +change bootloader settings to no avail as yet.
I have been confused by what I have found using Google. I do realise it is a
matter of configuring GRUB properly.
Can someone give clear directions for a newbie to put this right so that I
can boot in Windows again as I could in the beginning immediately after
installing SUSE 10.0 ?
Many thanks
James
