Are my posts winding up in the Twilight zone or something?
If you start a new thread with a new subject, you can not expect people
to go lookfor what you already have done.
One more time:
My computer zpped last week. Files scattered all over the place. Half of
9.3 in Lost + Found.
zpped? I assume you mean zapped, but that still does not explaine
anything. If there are that many in Lost and Gound, it most likely will
mean getting out the backup and do a re-install.
Tried to repair it. Tried to reload it. No Good. Still had problems
getting things to work.
Well, if you say so. But it means absolutely nothing to me. This is like
telling that your car makes a strange noise.
Blew away the 9.3 boot partition and loaded 10.0. Now I do not have write
access to any of the partitions except the new 10.0 root partition.]
YaST doesn't help.
Still no real information.
root hasn't got enough permission to change the permissions on the other
drives/partitions in the system. I don't know how to change permissions.
Most likely you need to reformat things.
I have a USB disk that is fat32. I changed the mount point permissions.
None of my 'users' can write to anything =but the root partition on the
first HDD.
Th rest most likley needs reformating.
chown doesn't work.
chmod doesn't work. Maybe I'm not phrasing the command properly.
Well, Maybe. Who knows.
Is there anything else I need to explain?
Yes. About everything you did and what you are seeing and doing and
reading the URL I send you.
And where the hell did my forst two posts go?
How should we know what two first postings you are talking about?
I haven't had this many problems with SuSE since I started using it three
years ago.
*** happens. Perhaps your HD just died a bit.
Yes. Give some feedback, because I have no idea what you are talking
about and what the Soviet Union has to do with anything

Read the above URL. Follow up on the advice of the URL in there.
I will try to explain it to you. Nobody sits at your computer. The only
advice we have is to go by what you tell us. Imagine me wanting to
repair my car and posting: Why has nobody helped me before? My car went
swoosh and I tried to do the right thing and yet it still does that
strange stuff it now does. I looked at the tires and saw nothing.
You must really try to imagine that people do just read your posting and
have no other information.
