My 10.1 installation is running happily along on a spare hdd in my
experimental box. Everything including sound, dvd video, and MS video
types seem to be working just fine. After finding the rpm install glitch
I have noticed one other little gotcha, My screen savers never start.
Doesn't matter which one or how long the timeout is set the screen saver
just never comes on. The machine is on a 4 port KVM so it really doesn't
matter much since it rarely is left on the machine screen. I have left
the machine up on the screen for a couple of hours with timeout set to
10 or 15 minutes and the screen saver never did come on. Any idea's.
PS I used Houghi's script to setup MPlayer on this machine it still
seems to work just fine on 10.1.
Consider youself lucky !! I can NOT disable my power saving on my system.
I've uninstalled all my screensavers and turned off power saving in the
monitor section of Yast Hardware, yet the screen goes black after a few
minutes of inactivity. So I'm reading something on the screen and I get a
black screen of nothingness. This sucks !!! :-(
power saving feature. I then had no screen savers and the monitor stayed
active. Installing 10.1 also messed with my Windows XP partition for
some reason. After Suse 10.1 was installed, Windows XP would not start.
I reverted back to Suse 10.0 for now and everything is working fine
including Windows XP.
