10.1 64bit on nForce4 410/430 chipset?
I've got new Clevo notebook and thought I am going to give 10.1 64bit a
go but install fails. The system boots, loads the kernel and then after
a while freezes. When running character install it stops after a while,
then screen gets filled up with some unreadable garbage and then it
freezes solid. Tried all types of install (acpi, noacpi, etc.) but the
end result is the same. 10.0 32 bit works fine and I can get everything
working properly (except sound which is quirky). I wonder if this is
something with my chipset? I know that Nvidia had done some changes to
the chipset (also coded MCP51) and consecutive patches were applied to
kernel but would that be the source of my problem? If not, any ideas?
BTW, it's not a faulty boot CD as I used it to install 10.1 on another PC.
