Re: Help locating an rpm for libexpat.so.0 ???

Gentlemen;
SUSE 10.1 is running "reasonably" well on all but one of my machines. The
one in question is a newer AMD 64 X2 that I reloaded with 32 bit 10.1 after
I had a lot of troubles with the _64 stuff (I need to get productive...)

This box has an on-board ATI radeon XPRESS 200 graphics adapter that I am
having difficulties trying to support. The combo of this adapter and my
LCD monitor yields quite unacceptable resolution in VESA mode which is the
best I can get. I've downloaded the "appropriate" ATI driver installation
package and run it to create the SUSE101-IA32 rpm. However, when I try to
install it I get complaints of a dependency failure of libexpat.so.0 which
I do not have. I DO have libexpat.so.1.5.0 and a symlink of libexpat.so.1
for it which I have tried various symlink tricks but cannot get by it.
Also, searches of the same at various repositories come up empty.

So, what am I missing here? Surely someone reading this must have come up
with the same issue with this or other GA in the past. Where can one
download the required library?

Oh, by the way, I don't know if this is related, but when I bring up my
system is automatically goes to runlevel 5 even though I've defined it as
runlevel 3. Any ideas?

Thanks a million - all,

Bob

At my computer 'libexpat.so.0' is part of the 'compat-expat1'-package.

jt@jt-portable ~ $ locate libexpat.so.0
/usr/lib/libexpat.so.0
/usr/lib/libexpat.so.0.5.0
jt@jt-portable ~ $ rpm -qf /usr/lib/libexpat.so.0
compat-expat1-1.95.8-6
