suse 10.1 on Dell lattitude D505 - I do not see wlan0

Hi.

I just installed Suse 10.1 on my dell; and playing with ifconfig and
other such commands I am finding out that the interfaces that ifconfig
shows are only lo eth0 and sit0, I seem to be missing wlan0 and do not
know how to make it show up.

hwinfo wlan seems to show it - Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG...
the modprobe ipw2200 works too, but nothing show up in ifconfig ever...
In solaris I would expect to do ifconfig plumb wlan0 - in linux I am
not sure what needs to be done to even see that interface.

iwconfig shows me "no wireless extension" on any of the interfaces I
can see.

I played with settings for sit0 thinking that's it, but I guess not - I
always get "sit0 is controlled by ifplugd"

I have tried playing with it in yast and some command line, including
playing with the config files for it.. no luck at all.

If anyone has any ideas/suggestions please let me know (and if not too
much trouble, please cc gregt@xxxxxxx, so I can get the answer sooner).

Thank you all in advance.

GregT
