I have the screen saver set to go after
15 mins. of idle time and lock the system, and the monitor to power off
after 45 mins. The screen saver (Euphoria GL if it matters, ATI 3D
enabled) doesn't start and the monitor powers off after 45 mins. The odd
part is that the lock comes on when the monitor goes off, and when I
move the mouse, the unlock box pops up with the screen saver in the
background. If I don't unlock the terminal, the screen saver runs for 30
mins and the monitor powers off again. Why is the screen saver seemingly
waiting for the power down to start?
I'm running 10.1 with all current patches.
I've seen similar misbehaviours on my 10.0 system, and on the 9.1 I was
running before that.
Moral: don't expect automatic screen locking to work reliably. There's
no reason you have to rely on this, is there?
For the moment, yes. In about two weeks, no.
