q1. Is there any network indicator like windows? last weak i thought i
was banned from the local admin but the problem was my network cable.
In case of windows we can easily figure out that the computer is not
attached with the network. Simply it will show a cross on the non
blinking network indicator in the bottom right corner. What's the
alternative for this in SUSE linux?
q2. I frequently use my camera, usb sticks. In windows there exist an
option like Safety Remove Hardware. How to remove usb hardwares safely
in Linux?
q3. gPhoto, gtkam is a good alternative for typical digital camera
softwares. What is for NOKIA S60 phones? Anybody using NOKIA pc suite
like software to connect and install softwares in NOKIA S60 phones?
q4. How to reduce the size of Kmenu? I dont want to see it this kind of
huge size, covering the left side top to bottom of the screen. It's a
trivial question, but I didn't find a way out.
q5. How to 'update' mozilla firefox. and attach a Java Run time
environment plugin?
q6. SUSE thinks I am running a headphone! Only headphone volume level
is working. Not the master volume level.
That's all for now!
Thanks in advance and cheers!
q1: Use 'KInternet', it's a similar activity icon, very good in fact.
q2: You would unmount the removable drive before removal, using the umount
command.
q3: No idea about the mobile phone issue, but I am certain there is a
universally compatible application, houghi will probably jump to the rescue
;)
q4: Delete items from the Kmenu? Increase your screen font? Decrease the
font-size of Kmenu?
q5: Add the packman repository to the YAST update facility, then add any
java runtime you wish. You can update firefox this way, or if you wish go to
mozilla.com and download an rpm/bin file and install it yourself
q6: Go into the volume control KMIX panel, and just change the settings.
Fiddle about, it's good experience to mess about with it...the 'master
volume' and 'pcm' volume matter quite a bit.
If you don't understand anything, just say, and I or someone will reply with
instructions, or a website with instuctions.
