yeah, it really showed in your replies. I thought Yugo was making a good
general point (overlong though so I didn't read through it all) about
making interfaces 'user-friendly'. that's not an attack on Linux though I
suppose the OP isn't a friend of GIMP. it could be helpful advice.

I do notice a lot of apps are coming out which are 'user-friendly' - maybe
a tad too much for my tastes - like Amarok. there will always be different
tiers of users, and it is nice that people who just want to fool with
pictures and so on can easily use Linux too even if more advanced people
end up getting more out of their systems.

thanks, btw, for that tip about browser cache. in retrospect with an error
like _http_cache_, what could have been more obvious?! you gave me a good
knock on the noggin.
