Hello all,
Has anyone tried OpenSUSE 10.1 on an Apple MacBook Pro? If so, can you
share
your experience with it? I'm thinking of getting one, but would like to
know how/if OpenSUSE runs.
Also, since the MacBook Pro has a Intel Core Duo, would libraries for a
i386
(and family) run on it?
Thanks,
Alvin
Why bother? Apple's O/S's are pretty good as they are, not gonna be beat
by opensuse really, is it. (Rhetorical :D)
I personally found any linux on apple hardware is very very
cost-inefficient, purely because you've paid all that money for pretty
decent hardware, and linux just doesn't take advantage of it like it can
on a decent newish P.C.
I would stick with apple.
Good point. The reason I would like to put OpenSUSE on it is because I would
be using the laptop for developing Linux apps. The main reason I'm
considering the MacBook Pro is because of the hardware it offers (core duo
2.0+ GHz, good battery life?, 6-pin firewire, slim, light?, etc.). I've
been searching for similar brand name and generic PC-based laptops, but I
can't seem to find one that meets my requirements. Perhaps you know of one
I should take a look at?
Thanks,
Alvin
