Web-based remoting...

I know next to nothing about Linux, but I am a geek by trade
(developer). I'm trying to force myself to use SuSE as though it is the
only allowable OS for my home computing needs. That being said, it is
obvious that I have a lot to learn.
I'm sure that some/most/all of you are familiar with the services
provided by logmein.com, and to that end, I'm sure my question is
fairly simple.
I have been given the impression that Symantec's pcAnywhere v12 has
Linux capabilities as far as being able to allow a remote user to (via
the web) hit their own machine and remotely control it. The software
also costs more than I am currently at liberty to spend on a utility
that I cannot even warrant will do what I need.
Are there any Linux equivalents to either the LogMeIn.com services, or
the pcAnywhere application? Perhaps something open source, or simply
less expensive?
The bottom line is that I need to know what my best option is for
remoting into my home PC via my work PC.
I'm not quite sure what sorts of system details I am suppost to put
here, but I've seen a whole lot used elsewhere. The only thing that
seems that it might be relavant is that my home PC is running SuSE
10.1, and my office is all Windows XP.
Thanks much in advance for all of your help.
