You always run the risk of losing your data when you resize a partition.
Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Especially if you done it with Suse 9 (9.3 was it?) - what a heap of ***
that intial configuration was... There was a known issue where, if you
wanted a dualboot, it would mess up your XP partition! You had to apply some
patched code or something to it, but of course you only find out it's messed
up *after* you done it.
Put me off doing it ever again until 10.
