Skype USB phone

I wonder if anyone can assist with this one:

I have a USB phone that I use with Skype. In SUSE 10.0 it would be
recognized properly and a device /dev/dsp1 would be created. There would
then be three devices under the "Volume Control" applet - Alsa Mixer,
OSS Mixer and USB OSS Mixer (or something similar).

This setup must have been changed in SUSE 10.1. The phone is still
recognized properly (and can be seen as such in usbview), /dev/dsp1 is
created and can be selected in Skype options. However, no USB OSS device
appears in the Volume Control applet and Skype gives out "Problem with
sound device".

Would anyone here know how to correct this? As 10.1 is still rather new,
I was unable to discover a solution via the usual Google.

Cheers,

Tom R.
