Well, after trying this a month ago, or thereabouts, I finally got Cast
Podder working in SuSE 10.1. I had read about this podcast aggregator in
Linux Journal in last months issue and tried, unsuccessfully, to install
it.There are numerous different packages available at there web site but
none worked. So yesterday I gave it another go. But this time I went to
the rpm.pbone.net and got a version I thought might have a chance to
succeed. It is this one:
CastPodder-5.0-6.fc5.src.rpm
I rebuilt it and it installed the rpm in the usual
place, /usr/src/packages/RPMS/noarch. Then ran the rpm command to install
it. It RUNS !! Of course I don't know for sure what dependencies
the 'rpmbuild --rebuild CastPodder-5.0-6.fc5.src.rpm' needed but I have
them. So your mileage may vary. If you get a warning you'll know what you
don't have..
So, if you feel like installing this app go ahead and go to rpm.pbone.net
and get this source rpm and rebuild it yourself:
http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3?stat=26&dist=0&size=905755&name=CastPodder-5.0-6.fc5.src.rpm
Of course, now that I've posted this, I'll probably hear about an easier
method than this one. That's o.k. !! But this did work for me and I put
quite a lot of time into trying. I wish they made a version (rpm)
specifically for SuSE...
Good luck.
