Good. In my view it's a security risk that shouldn't have been there.
It's nice that Novell took the time to remove that risk. Now all they
need to do is get rid of the stupid default of enabling auto-login and
(open)SUSE will have even fewer security risks.

The autologin should only be there if there is only one user. The moment
you add a second user, it should be gone.

My meaning was that during the install, when you add a users, the
default is to auto-login. The option should be available but should be
disabled by default. Those that are absolutely sure that no-one will
ever be able to turn on their system can turn it on if they wish.

if want to run free linux, then instal a suse before
msnovel, 9.1 or less, and stop "upgrading" msdos and
msnovel

Oh that'll work wonders. You know just how many security updates there
have been for packages supplied with 9.1? How about the security updates
for 9.0?

Even better. What if you by accident do an update? You will then most
likely be 'infected' by security patched that are done by Novell, so to
be novell free, be sure to use a SUSE that what out of service when
Novell took over.

IIRC, Novell bought SUSE somewhere between the release of 9.1 and 9.2.
Given that, 8.0 should be Novell free. To be absolutely sure, 7.3 really
is the last one to use.

Also you should not forget to check the kernel, the KDE and the GNOME
source to be sure you do not use any code made by Novell, as Novell also
works on those fields.

Oh, that's done it. Now (s)he's going to have to switch to something
else.

Yep kids. Novell does more then just make SUSE. It is pretty much
involved in many OSS projects. The kernel, KDE and GNOME being the major
ones.

So if you don't like Novell and don't want Windows, buy a Mac.

There's also *BSD, but I can't honestly see the OP doing that switch
especially since he'll have to avoid KDE and Gnome, just to make sure
there's no Novell-produced or Novell-supported stuff. Looks like he's
restricted to either a text *BSD or a Mac.
