I'm running a dual boot with Windows XP and SUSE Linux 10.1
I replaced my system Nvidia video card with an ATI video card.
Now when I try to boot to Linux I get a command line prompt and no GUI.

Not sure what to do next.

I would log in at the command line, as root, and run sax2
This should set up your X config file, whatever that is called these
days.

Now, as to what happens when you next power up, it depends on what has
happened to your system. If the default run level has been changed
from 5 to 3, then you won't start X. You should be able to set this up
in sax2 as well, it has a checkbox to select graphical logins

.
