There is no need to do that. Only if you need the swapping space. So, do
you need all that virtual memory? With that additional physical RAM you
have? I'd say that you don't.

He probably doesn't need the extra swap space with all that RAM, but.....in
the Oracle installation literature it does say to make the swap space equal
to 1.5 times the size of the physical ram so it 'might' be a good idea.


I dare say that if you ever page... you'll notice it quite a bit
(like moving to an old 386 computer).... Having swap will just allow
the machine to stay up without arbitrarily killing off processes... but
it will perform SO bad, that you'll want to increase your main
memory.
