Ta. Thanx fer that.
It would be nice to quote at least part of what you are replying to.
That seems to clean things up a bit. Have yet to
notice any quirks or problems, seems smooth.
No idea what you replied to. I am happy that whatever it was, it seems
to work.
Pity that now with several online suppositories to examine that the system
takes nearly 30 minutes of online checking before you get to make
selections (256K ADSL). I am told that philosophical acceptance is a
wonderful thing.
Well, YOU decide what online repo's you use. I disable almost
everything, except the ones from SUSE itself, leaving only two. I only
activate the others when needed. Also I don't install and deinstall
programs all the time.
Is there any virtue in upgrading 10.0 to 10.1? It seems to me that if the
apps (the reason for having a computer) are up to date that there would be
little point. Unless 10.1 had a significant architectural change that
enabled new & wonderful things to come.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Is this so? I had assumed that the various releases were just snapshots in
a continuous overlapped development sequence, with a bit of extra
synchronizing effort to get everything compatible.
Well, sort of. What happens is that every 8 months (used to be 6) a new
version comes out. Changes can be huge, large or small, whatever you
call changes and what is importand for you.
e.g. many will say that the difference from 10.0 to 10.1 is huge,
because of zen. As I don't use it, for me it is insignificant. The
difference from 10.1 to 10.2 might look very small to most, yet I think
using patterns is a HUGE difference.
Others think it is importand to have version x.y.2 instead of x.y.1 of
whatever package.
Anyway: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

Personally, I think most sports fans are a little "gay". They'd
rather watch a bunch of sweaty guys jumping all over eachother,
than, say fashion TV - where hot models walk down the runway.
