whenever I run "sensors -s" to refresh the config, I get the

Run as root?"
I've looked around and don't see anything obvious. Any ideas?
I agree that it is not immediately obvious from the quoted error message
that you might need to have permission to write to procfs/sysfs.
Nor is it obvious from that message that running as root might help.
Uh, /etc/init.d is run as who exactly?
For the people that might actually be able to help:
[ 11:14:24 -- weasel:/root/ ]
[ root# ] ls -la /sys/bus/i2c/
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 0 Sep 10 07:04 .
drwxr-xr-x 14 root root 0 Sep 10 07:04 ..
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Sep 10 11:14 devices
drwxr-xr-x 5 root root 0 Sep 10 11:05 drivers
[ 11:14:27 -- weasel:/root/ ]
[ root# ] ls -la /sys/bus/i2c/devices/
total 0
drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 0 Sep 10 11:14 .
drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 0 Sep 10 07:04 ..
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Sep 10 11:14 0-0050 ->
.../../../devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/i2c-0/0-0050
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Sep 10 11:14 0-0051 ->
.../../../devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1f.3/i2c-0/0-0051
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 0 Sep 10 11:05 9191-0290 ->
.../../../devices/platform/i2c-9191/9191-0290
As I said, I've looked and don't see anything OBVIOUS that is wrong.
