That's the good thing in Zen, it keeps you informed, not only

That is another thing I don't like.

Don't you want to be aware? You can always taboo them, I guess.

Why should I be aware of them? If they ain't broke I don't need to fix
it. Especially programs in the background that I might use in scripts
could break the scripts for whatever reason. They put something in I did
not expect or take something out that I used.
The chances of that happening with a security update is much less. e.g.
the upgrade of Firefox broke several extentions I used. At least I
updated it myself so was immidietly aware of the problem and could start
looking for a solution.

However I have several scripts that run on a weekly and even monthly
basis and that would complicate thing if they suddenly did not do what I
expected them to dom

Also when larger packages, like KDE, Gnome or OOo or Firefox get a new
version, there will be enough noise about it that I can check wether I
would be interested in the new features or not. I can't do that with all
the things that is going on.

It goes against the idea of: if it
ain't broke, don't fix it.

Why are you not running the older SUSE versions then, they aren't
broken? 9.3 is fantastic :)

Because it did not repair my curiosity. So to me it was broke. Something
being broken can be different for different people. If I would have an
operational server, I would first most likely run SLES or SLED, because
it has a life cycle of 5 years, what means I don't need to look at it
for 5 years, unless the needs seriously change. And then I would have
needed to look at it anyway.
