The box set up to be a router looks like this:
router
WAN +----------------------------------+ LAN
| |
| eth0 eth1 |
------------------ -----------------
| automatic 192.168.100.2 | client
<------- | address setup | machine
the Internet | via DHCP |
+----------------------------------+
The WAN only has one name server address which is 192.168.1.1 (which is
why I choose to give my own LAN addresses in the area of 192.168.100.*).
And the gateway address of eth0 is also 192.168.1.1:
Please forget a moment about the nameservers. I am not interested at the
nameservers at this moment
I hope I have managed to give sufficient information in a non-confusing
way this time.
The above is pretty complete. Some questions:
1) Can you do a tracroute from the router to 64.233.183.99
2) What is the IP adress of eth0?
3) What is the IP adres of the WAN and isn't there a modem in between?
4) What is the IP adress of the client
And laste, what does `tracroute 64.233.183.99` on the client give you?
Note that traceroute needs to be installed and will be in /sbin. I
always symlink it to /usr/local/bin so I can easily use it as a user.
