I have one box with a dual boot (WinXP and Suse 10.0) connected to
another box with a dual boot (Win98 and Caldera [Linux] Desktop 2.4).
To make life easier I have them connected through a D-Link router.
That way I eliminated the need to set up two ethernet cards, and
Internet access and networking work independently of each other.
If I am connecting Linux to Windows I use Samba. Install both server
and client on each machine. If both computers are running Linux, I use
NFS. Install both server and client on each machine. We need not
cover the last alternative.
Just two days ago, another of our regulars posted a point by point
proceedure for setting up Samba and NFS. Do a search. It was a well
thought out presentation.
