Once it's (java)installed you may have to let OO know where it is.

-> Tools -> Options -> Click the plus next to OpenOffice.org to expand the
menu -> Java. Wait a few moments and your installed jre should show up in
the menu. Click the circle next to it so select it and click o.k. You'll
need to restart OO for it to work. If your jre (java runtime environment)
does not show up after a few seconds then you'll need to use the browse
button to tell OO where it is. Since I use the enterprise edition (J2EE) I
browse to /opt/SUNWappserver/jdk/jre/bin. You probably wont need to do
this as OO should detect you OpenSuSE version automatically. Just click
the circle to select it and click o.k.
